When I thanked Dr. Albertson for working me in for the biopsy after finding it so hard to get in with an endoctrinologist in Charlotte, he said, “Why would you go to Charlotte? There are some fine endoctrinologists in Statesville.” (I just hadn’t been here long enough to get established) He gave me a name. Then my sister researched the endoctrinologists in Statesville. Then one of my pastors told me about a very competent endoctrinologist in his church who is also his physician . Then a local physician, a college friend of my daughter’s recommended a great endoctrinologist. All of them gave me the same name! And here, I had another doctor who worked me in immediately and practices just 5 minutes from my house. Double the miracle of that when she walked in to my first appointment apologizing for not attending her Charge Conference the night before! Oh my! How blessed can any one person be? Yes, it is a hard thing to hear
that you have cancer. Anyone who has gotten that news can tell you
it is a real shock to your system.
And I am not any different.
That news hit me hard. And yes, it is hard to have two months of your life in
work that you love thrown up in the air. Yes, that is hard. But, all the remarkable
weavings of this leave me feeling so blessed, so humbled, so grateful, so reassured
about God’s amazing love and care for my life. Here I am –thanks
to God’s grace and medical science-- about to have surgery and treatment
that will be a complete cure. I have the most extraordinary doctor to perform
the delicate surgery and a most extraordinary doctor/sister to be my nurse, friend
and guide through the whole thing. I have the love and support of the best family
anyone could hope to have in this world, the wholehearted support of the bishop,
cabinet, churches, pastors and the heartfelt prayers of people throughout the
church. By any measure, I am blessed beyond belief. Click here to send Mary John a message. |
